MASTER PORTRAITS are made with ink strokes from a hand-held steel nib “dipping” pen of a 150-year-old design. Unusual attention is paid to detail and originality, after hours spent researching highlights that are worked into the drawings: a medieval town in England in one, a Japanese Geisha dress in another, the look of a specific Galway pub for a recipient in Western Ireland… The result is a truly individualized celebration of the individual and his or her accomplishments.

The watercolors are applied using painting techniques of 19th century English watercolor artists.  While the final pieces are distinctly modern in feel,  they reflect the  watercolor illustrations of an earlier time.  Gene, a classically-trained portrait artist, GUARANTEES the finished portrait will resemble the face in the reference  photos!
